About Us

Who we are – Homepride Contracting Inc was incorporated in 2006 by owner Adam Terlecki. After working in the Calgary commercial/residential construction industry for over 10 years Adam knew it was time to start his own business. His roots are in Calgary, he was born and raised here, is proud of our city and enjoys being able to help the residents of Calgary improve and maintain their homes and yards.

Knowing that a sustainable business is built on repeat customers and their referrals, our goal is to ensure you are completely happy with our work and will want to do business with Homepride Contracting again.

How we work

We understand that you want to be comfortable with your contractor and we want to be comfortable with you. That is why we are dedicated to understanding the specific needs of your project and having you understand the services we are going to provide.

1.Call to book a consultation – when you call Homepride Contracting to schedule an appointment we will arrange a convenient time to meet with you. Evening and weekend appointments are available. During the consultation we will:

  • Discuss specific details and goals for your project
  • Take any necessary measurements
  • Discuss potential issues or concerns
  • Make recommendations or suggest possible design ideas

  • Prices
  • Warranty information
  • Estimated start date
  • Estimated completion date
  • Details on deposit and payments

3.Quote acceptance – should you choose to proceed with your project, arrangements will be made for both parties to sign and date the contract

4.Deposit – an initial materials deposit is not required until the project commences

5.Your Project – Once the quote has been finalized and accepted work on your project will commence. During construction we will keep you up-to-date on the status of the project and how things are progressing. Should there be any delays (material out of stock, weather, etc.) you will always be notified.

6.Final Payment – Once all work has been completed and your final payment is made we will provide you with a receipt for your records.

What to look for in a Contractor

with so many contractors out there these days how do you choose who should work for you?

1.Obtain quotes – it’s always good to get more than one quote so you can accurately compare services and prices. Keep in mind however that the lowest cost contractor is not always your best choice. Check the details provided in the quote to see what materials the contractor will be using and how the work is to be assembled/installed. It is also a good idea to check that all services you discussed and agreed on in your consultation are listed in the quote (if it is not listed in the quote it will be difficult to hold the contractor accountable).

2.Contract – Protect your investment! Remember that without a valid written contract you only have verbal agreements to fall back on. Paying cash without a contract is never a good idea. A legitimate contractor will provide you with a detailed contract that is signed by both parties.

3.Sample Work/Referrals – It is good practice to ask for referrals or to see samples of work the contractor has completed.

4.Comfort Level & Communication – You should also be sure to choose a contractor you are comfortable with. The company you hire will be working in and around your home; therefore an element of trust becomes an important issue. There should also be clear and open communication.

5.Warranty – Be sure to read and understand all details of the warranty. A trustworthy company will stand behind their work. Installation completed properly will last a long time so a company who is competent in their work should not have a problem offering a warranty.

6.It is also a good idea to request proof of the following:

  • Valid Business License – A legitimate business should readily be able to provide proof of their valid business license. Without a business license there is nothing binding your contractor to your job.
  • Proof of a Commercial Insurance Policy – check to make sure your contractor carries enough insurance that you will be protected should there be any job related incidents
  • Proof of Workers’ Compensation Board coverage – WCB is required for any legitimate company to do work in Alberta
  • Surety Bond – required under the fair trade act in Alberta to legally take a deposit
  • Valid GST number – required to collect and remit GST
